What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy moving technique that promotes healing. Rei means "God's wisdom or universal life force" and Ki, which is "Chi or life force energy." So, Reiki is " Universal life force energy." A Reiki practitioner is specially trained and attuned to direct that energy through his/her body and into another.


This universal life force energy is constantly running through us and around us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is blocked and low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high and flowing freely, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. You'll know how your energy is flowing just by the way you feel. If you feel great, the energy is flowing. If you don't, it's not. It's that simple.


The body has a miraculous ability to heal itself, but when the energy is blocked, clogged, or disrupted, illnesses can occur. Reiki clears the energy blocks and sends energy to the body so that it can heal itself.

 During your session you will be invited to relax as I walk you through a short guided meditation to relax the mind and body in preparation to receive. Then I will become quiet and work in your space. You may have physical sensations, daydream, or even fall asleep. Each person and each session is completely unique. Most clients report feeling a deep sense of relaxation, but can experience tingles, body sensations, a sense of relief, better energy flow, colors, or even visuals. The important thing is to not place any pressure on your experience or come to the session with expectations. When I'm finished, I will guide you back from the meditation and we can discuss the healing session.

  1. Be sure to drink plenty of water before and after the session. Avoid large, heavy meals before the session so you are comfortable.
  2. Wear loose-fitting, cozy clothing. 
  3. Be in a comfortable, quiet place without distractions or interruptions and have a blanket nearby. 
  4. While I will move intuitively throughout the healing session, communicate any specific concerns or issues with your physical body, your emotional body, and your spiritual body.
  5. During the session, your only job is to relax and receive.

Some people may benefit from regular sessions, while others may find occasional sessions to be sufficient. Ultimately, it’s a personal decision that depends on factors such as your overall well-being, and specific goals or issues you’re addressing.

Here are a few considerations to help determine how often you might receive Reiki:

  1. Initial sessions: If you’re new to Reiki, it can be beneficial to have a series of sessions relatively close together, such as once a week, to establish a foundation and support your body’s natural healing processes.
